The term 'orienteering' was first used in 1886 and meant the crossing of unknown land with the aid of a map and a compass. Developed in Sweden, orienteering grew from military training in land navigation into a competitive sport for military officers, then for civilians. Give it a go yourself and see if you can find your way from 'A' to 'B'. This is an introductory session which will enable you to learn the basic skills of Orienteering.
